1action

2knocking

3to walk

4will be held

5be planted

根據(jù)句意可知,這里考查句型wait for sb. to do sth.“等待某人做某事”,這里應(yīng)用動詞不定式形式。

根據(jù)句意可知,從句中主語more charity shows與動詞hold構(gòu)成被動關(guān)系,應(yīng)使用被動語態(tài),且從句中表示將來的事情,應(yīng)用一般將來時,其被動結(jié)構(gòu)為will be+過去分詞,故答案為will be held。

根據(jù)句意可知,該句主語More trees and flowers與動詞plant構(gòu)成被動關(guān)系,應(yīng)使用被動語態(tài)?涨should是情態(tài)動詞,其被動結(jié)構(gòu)為should be+過去分詞,故答案為be planted

Imagine if your journey to work was from your bedroom to your living room. More and more people in the UK are doing their jobs at home.

David works as an engineer in a London factory. He's been an engineer since he left school-but he is feeling less hopeful about his future. Heavy industry in the UK has almost disappeared. David also gets tired of his long train journey to work. It can take up to two hours a day.

David's wife, Helen, seldom travels to work at all. She is a writer. After she sent her children to school, she starts to work in front of her computer screen. When she finishes her books, she sends them to her director by email.

Most people in the UK, like David come(經(jīng)常往返)to work, but an increasing number of people work as teleworkers.

So what are the advantages? Tele-workers can save hours by not traveling to work. "I hated my journey to work," says Helen. "Now all I have to do is to walk downstairs!" Many teleworkers say that working from home is much less stressful-good news for both workers and managers.

So is telecommuting( 遠(yuǎn)程辦公)for everyone? "It, hard at first ",says Helen," because our living mom is also my office, and disciplining yourself(自我控制)to work from home can be difficult.

But overall, I love it.

1More and more people in the UK, doing their jobs at home.

2David is also interested in his long train journey to work

Let's Save Our Language Heritage

Each year on Feb 21, UNESCO holds an International Mother Language DayIMLD. The event is to draw attention to the disappearance of the world's languagesdozens of them are vanishing each year. UNESCO sees this as a tragedy(悲劇), and with good reason.

What happens when a language dies out? Something huge is lostnot just sounds and marks but the way that people make sense of the world and communicate with each other. And it is through language that we have culture and tradition. Kill a language and all this is killed too.

Through IMLD, more people are becoming aware of the destruction of linguistic(語言學(xué)的)diversity in modern times and trying to stop it. Google's 2012 Endangered Languages Project is a good example. Speakers and protectors of endangered languages upload text, audio and video files to the project site. They want to introduce people to the wonders of the way that people communicate and express themselves around the world.

The Myaamia Project is a similar kind of effort. This is an attempt to revive(重新使用)the language spoken by the Miami and Illinois tribes(部落)of the US. Project members work to encourage people to study and communicate with this language, which formally died out in the 1960s.

These activities, which breathe life into languages on the verge(邊緣)of extinction, might seem old-fashioned to some. But those who work to keep languages alive are not enslaved(束縛)to the past. They are enthusiastic young people who design apps and use social media to champion their activities. As the US-based social event calendar website Upcoming puts it, they“spread the word" to save the word.

So, while the problem of disappearing languages remains a very serious one, there is hope. We all have a special feeling for our mother tongue, although those of us who speak one that is not endangered might not always be aware of it. This is why we should recall(回憶)the wise words of the late president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his own language, that goes to his heart.”

1When is International Mother Language Day?

2What happens when a language dies out?

3What is Google's 2012 Endangered Languages Project?

4What can we know from Paragraph 5?

5Why did the author mention Nelson Mandela's words?
