【題目】Switzerland is famous for its watches. However, this country didn’t invent the watch. It was the British who did. Here is a story of how the watch was brought to Switzerland.

The blacksmith’s assistant wanted to try to repair so the traveler handed him the watch. The assistant was a very clever man, so it was easy for him to repair it. He even remembered how it was made. As soon as the traveler had gone on his way, he made a watch of exactly the same type.

Usually schools and teachers set the class rules for students. But schools in Wuhan recently tried a different way. This year, the rules of Class 12,Grade 7 in No.6 High School have been made by themselves—all 46 class students.
During the first day of this school year, the teacher allowed his students to make their own classroom rules, and asked each student to give a list of rules to help make their class a good learning environment. The whole class shared and discussed the lists.Later they added or took out some of rules. The rulemaking activity lasted about a month. Finally the class had 30 rules.
Then, rulemaking were asked to sign up to the rule list—their promise to follow the rules.①A__poster__with__all__the__rules__was__put__up__beside__the__blackboard.

【題目】In our program, we explore(探究)the meaning of expressions in American English. We often take terms and examine them from "head to toe"------looking at each and every detail----making sure not to ignore(忽視) anything.
【1】While listening to this program, you need to stay on your toes. We will give one example after another. So, you' ll need to listen closely or you might miss something. Staying or keeping on your toes not only means to pay close attention. 【2】 This expression comes from the fact you are ready to jump off a ball into action. The phrase " keeping on your toes" is different from "tiptoeing around". When you are on your toes, you are ready to take action. 【3】 If you are not balanced, you are about to fall down. As we can see, "tiptoeing around" has something with being not direct. So, in American English, "to tiptoe around something" means to talk out something in an indirect (不直接的) way.
【4】 If we have some problems or do something wrong in our lives, our parents or teachers advise us not to avoid them. Instead, we should face them directly and bravely. 【5】
And that' s “Words and Their Stories” for this week. Thanks for listening.
A. But when standing on your tip toes, you are not very balanced.
B. Our parents or teachers may tell us, " Don ' t tiptoe around ! "
C. Speaking of toes, let ' s talk about them for a minute.
D. Here is an example of this expression.
