Food shopping is more and more convenient(方便)in modern cities today. If people do not have time to make lunch, they can buy fast food at a convenience store. If they want to cook a delicious dinner or buy enough food for a week, they can go to a supermarket. These big, modern stores sell not only food but also other things for daily use.

Sometimes people find it difficult to choose which to buy because there are too many choices(選擇). For example, there are different kinds of instant noodles(方便面), instant noodles with eggs or the kind with chicken.

If you ever cross a road in a foreign country, be careful! Traffic rules are often different there!

Before you cross the street, you always look right first, not left! Cars drive in the opposite direction. Give yourself enough time to cross the road. Cars go much faster in Britain.

So why do the British drive on the left when most of the world drives on the right?

Hundreds of years ago, almost every one drove on the left. Why? Men used their right hands to draw their swords while they rode their horses. If an enemy came toward them they would have their swords ready in the middle of the road to start fighting. Napoleon, the great French leader, was left-handed. Some say that's why Europeans drive on the right side!

About a quarter of the world's people drive on the left. Australians and New Zealanders do. Americans drive on the fight like us.
