【題目】 How’s your relationship with your dad? It can be easy to let walls build up between you during the teen years. But by taking several simple steps, you can help improve the relationship between the two of you—even without great efforts. Here are a few quick tips.
Talk it out. Communication is the key to any friendship. Open your mouth and let your dad know what’s on your mind. Give him a chance to get to know you.
Listen up. Your dad’s lived more life than you have. Believe it or not, he’s probably been there and can help you get through the pressures and struggles. Ask how he dealt with school, girls or temptations (誘惑). Then pay attention.
Take some time. It can be hard for us kids to talk about what really matters. But spending time together can build the relationship, and create chances to talk. Go for a hike or a game. Work on the car. Whatever you’re into, ask your dad to do it together.
Fight fair. Family disagreements are unavoidable. When temperatures rise, keep your mouth respectful and cool off before you say something bad. Talk it out when you can do so calmly.
Realize respect. Face it: your dad’s been given authority (權威) to help guide you as you know. He’s going to make mistakes, but so are you. Forgive him when he blows it, and honor his decisions—even if you don’t agree.

【題目】 “Life is speeding up. Everyone is getting unwell.”
This may sound like something someone would say today. But in fact, an unknown citizen who lives in Rome in AD53 wrote it.
We all love new inventions. They are exciting, amazing and can even change our lives. But have all these developments really improved the quality of our lives?
Picture this: You’re rushing to finish your homework on the computer. Your mobile phone rings, a QQ message from your friend appears on the screen, the noise from the television is getting louder and louder. Suddenly the computer goes blank and you lose all your work. Now you have to stay up all night to get it done. Why do you think people who live far away from noisy cities, who have no telephones, no cars, not even any electricity often seem to be happier? Perhaps because they lead simpler lives.
One family in the UK went back in time to see what life was like without all the inventions we have today. They had no washing machine, microwave, computer or mobile phones.
The grandmother, Lyn, said: “It was hard physically. But not mentally.” She believed life was less materialistic (重物質享受的). “The more things you have, the more difficult life becomes,” she said. The boys said they fought less. Probably, they said, because there was less to fight over, such as their computer.
Here are some simple ways to beat the stress often caused by our inventions!
Don’t be available all the time. Turn off your mobile phone at certain times of the day. Don’t check your e-mails every day.
Don’t reply to somebody as soon as they leave a text message just because you can. It may be fun at first, but it soon gets annoying.
With the Internet and so much information available, we are expected to know everything all the time, but don’t be afraid to say sometimes: “I don’t know”.
Make sure you spend some time talking to your family. Set aside one evening a week when you don’t turn on the television. Play cards and chat instead.

【題目】 Once while being prepared for a television interview, I was chatting with the host about stay-at-home fathers. Why are we seeing more stay-at-home dads? I thought maybe it’s because a man doesn’t make more money than his wife. Many families now take earning power into consideration when deciding which parent will stay at home.
At that point, one of the members expressed his opinion, “It should be the better parent who stays at home”. A lot of guys say things like that. I was a stay-at-home father for eight years, so what he said made me excited. It showed that our family’s choice could only have been correct if I was a “better” parent than my wife.
I suppose an argument could have been made that when I began staying at home my wife was the “better” parent: she had spent more time with our son, could read him better and calm him more quickly. And if he had had a choice, he’d have picked her over me. But as she was the more employable one, my wife went out to work and I looked after our son.
Because of the increased time I spent with him, I soon knew him well, understood what he needed and could look after him more or less as my wife could. Actually, the experience helped me unlock one of the world’s great secrets: Women are good at looking after the children because they do it. It’s not because of a mother’s instinct(本能)-which I think is mostly learned anyway. It’s because they put in the time and attention required to become good at the job.
Women are able to give birth and nurse, but over the long term experience is more important. When I got the experience myself, I was good, too. As good? I don’t know. Who cares? Children are not made of glass. Other people are able to look after them besides Mom.

A.they were born with the abilityB.they love children and enjoy it
C.they have learned it at schoolD.they spend more time doing it
