【題目】 Most schools are going to start a programme called BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology). This programme allows students to bring iPads, mobile phones or other things to school for study. One aim for this programme is that the students don’t need to carry textbooks any more. They can download maths, science, social studies, and read textbooks on their iPads. Another one is that they can get free educational subjects to learn in their free time!
Schools have set up a free Wi-Fi system just for the BYOT programme. Thank teachers for all their hard word to set this programme up. I really think this programme will go well in most schools and I also think that learning will be better than ever.
However, some schools will probably not allow this because they think that it will make kids mess around too much and they might break their iPads.
This programme will let students have fun and learn at the same time. If you like your iPads and you like to read, school is getting started with reading with iPads. High schools and middle schools have already started and so have some elementary schools. But most elementary schools are coming along! Let’s tell them: Hurry! Get ready to learn!

A.the writer agrees to the programme BYOT

D.the teachers don’t have to teach anything with the Wi-Fi system

Everyone has a true friend in his life. Mary Allen was my best friend—like the 【1】 I never had. We did everything together: piano lessons, movies, swimming, horseback riding.

Soon we were busy with children and moving to new homes, and we【3】 less often. One day a card that I sent came back stamped “Address Unknown.” I had no idea how to find Mary.
Over the years, I thought of Mary often. I wanted to share stories of my children and then grandchildren. And I needed to share my【4】 when my brother and then mother died. There was an empty place in my heart that only a friend like Mary could fill.

One day I was driven by a rain-storm to take shelter in a little hut by the road-side, which was used by a shoe-maker as his workshop to fix shoes. The man and his son were busy with their work; and after saying, "Good day," we began to talk together.
Before I had been with them long, the old man sent his son out to get something that he needed for his repair. His son was only one kilometre away, but it was too long for the h【1】 shoe-maker to be free. He at last took up a piece of leather and began to work on it, saying, "You know, sir, it will never do to waste time."
As soon as the rain was over, I went on my way home, thinking over what I had heard, "It will never do to waste time." Some people are always lazy, others are lazy only now and then. I was one of the second ones. I couldn't f 【2】 my attention all the time. So the old man's words came home with me and I began to feel how w【3】it was to waste so much of my life in laziness.
I had often heard and read that laziness was great h 【4】; but now I begin to see that it causes far more disadvantages than people are aware of. They don't know the wasted time never goes back.
When a man is busy, he is said to be "occupied." What does that mean? It means that a man at work is like a house with people living in it. When our minds are full of our work, there is no s【5】 for anything else. Laziness, on the other hand, is emptiness; and when the mind is empty, then the doors are thrown open, and bad thoughts come in to influence your pure heart. When it once gets hold of a man, the habit of laziness isn't e【6】 got rid of.
I have made up my mind to follow the shoe-maker's rule for the rest of my life. Although it was very hard at first, I stick to it because I learn to r【7】 myself not to waste time. Above all, I decide that my mind should never be empty.

When an animal helps another animal, it usually gets something valuable (有價(jià)值的) in return. For a long time, many scientists thought that only people could act generously (慷慨地) just because it feels good.
However, a new study in Germany suggests that chimpanzees (an animal like a large monkey without a tail) also do good things for no real reason. And so do children who are as young as 18 months of age. Maybe it is because humans and chimpanzees share an ancestor about 6 million years ago.
People and chimpanzees appear to develop such features without any other training, says Warneken, a scientist in Germany.
Warneken and his partners worked on adult chimpanzees that live on an island in the African country of Uganda. They also worked with 18-month-old children in Germany. The researchers performed three experiments on the adult chimpanzees and two experiments on the kids. In the first animal experiment, a person tried to reach his arm into a cage to get a stick, but he couldn't reach it. A chimpanzee was in the cage, and it could reach the stick if it wanted to.
Thirty-six chimpanzees took part in this experiment one by one, and no chimpanzee saw what the other chimpanzees had done. Even though the animals hadn't met the person before, they usually took the stick and gave it to the person. What's more, they did this whether or not the person gave them bananas as a reward (獎勵).
In a similar experiment, 36 children acted in a similar way. They helped the person reach the stick, whether or not they were given toys for their help.
Researchers did other experiments on chimpanzees and babies. No rewards were given in either experiment. And still, both the chimpanzees and children went out of their way to help.
【1】What did many scientists think for a long time?

【2】Where did they do the experiments?

【3】How many chimpanzees took part in this experiment?

【4】Did children act in a similar way as chimpanzees in the experiment?
