注意:每個空格只填一個單詞。

The digital (數(shù)字的) age has come into our life. In the USA, some teachers think digital search tools(工具) have had a good influence on the American teenagers, but others don’t think so. More than 2,000 high school teachers took a survey on the Internet.

75 percent of the teachers agreed the Internet and digital search tools have had a “mostly good” use for their students’ research habits and skills. But 87 percent thought that these technologies “make the students not have enough attention.” And 64 percent said the technologies “do little to help them in courses.”

Judy Buchanan is a director of the National Writing Project. Ms. Buchanan says digital search tools are helping students learn more, and learn faster. Teachers really like these tools because they are ways to make some of learning very exciting. Young people enjoy using these tools. And the goal is to help them do creative work, and not just that kind of copyist (模仿者,抄寫員).

But one problem is that many students don’t have a good understanding of how to use the digital knowledge well. In other words, they trust too much of the information. Judy Buchanan says these students have not developed the skills they need to tell whether the information on the Internet is good or bad.

Another problem is something that might not seem like a problem at all, being able to quickly find information from the Internet. Teachers say the ability of their students to work hard to find out answers is becoming weaker. They say students depend too much on search tools and do not make enough use of printed books.

Besides, many teachers are also worried about the problem that the Internet makes it easy for students to copy work done by others, instead of using their own abilities.

【題目】 Do you have trouble trying to create the next big idea? Sometimes the answer isn’t to just force an idea out of your mind. Instead, you might want to try sitting back, relaxing and letting your mind wander(走神). Yes, you heard that correctly. If you are in need of a new idea, try daydreaming.

Researchers from the University of California, Santa Barbara, found an association(聯(lián)系)between daydreaming and creative problem-solving. Their study includes having participants(參與者)first do an “unusual-use task”. They had to try to come up with as many different ways to use an object as they could.

Then, the participants chose to do one of the following four things before doing the “unusual-use task” again: Complete a difficult task ; complete an easy task; take a 12 –minute break; or skip(跳過)12-minute break and move right on to the task exercise again.

Surprisingly, the group that performed(執(zhí)行) best was the one that completed the easy task. Many participants reported that they were daydreaming while performing the easy task. So the researchers believed that this daydreaming might have helped unlock their creativity.

But how could daydreaming help the brain come up with creative ways? The answer is something known as “unconscious thought”. Even when you are not actively working to solve a problem, it is still in the back of your mind. Your brain is still thinking about the problem, but in a much more subtle(不易察覺的)way.

When you daydream, your mind is allowed to think in ways it normally would not. Because it is free of control, it can create completely new and out-of-the-box ideas.

Great ideas never come easily, but that does not mean you always have to work hard to get them. Feel free to do what you want and let your mind wander.

1What could you do to create great ideas according to the passage?

A.Work hard.B.Let your mind wander.C.Have a nice sleep. D.Read more books.

2The “unusual-use task” included having participants______________________.

A.complete an easy taskB.complete a very difficult task

C.take a 12-minute breakD.come up with different ways to use an object

3Why did the participants who completed the easy task perform best?

A.Because they were more creative than the others.

B.Because they were more knowledgeable than the others

C.Because they were better at solving problems than the others

D.Because they had the time to daydream, which might have helped unlock their creativity.

4What does the underlined phrase “unconscious thought” in Paragraph 5 mean?

A.Your brain is thinking about a problem outside of your awareness(意識)

B.Your brain knows what you’re thinking and doing.

C.Your brain has a purpose of its own that cannot be known.

D.Your brain refuses to receive any information from the outside world.

5What is the main idea of the passage?

A.Brainstorming is important to creative ideas.

B.The more we exercise our brains, the more ideas we will have.

C.Daydreaming is a way to improve creativity.

D.Problem-solving skills are important in our lives.

【題目】 Four years ago, we asked ourselves: what if we could create a shopping experience with no waiting in lines and no checkout? Or could we create a physical store where customers could simply take what they want and go? Our answer to those questions is Amazon Go, where you could experience the idea of “just walk out shopping”.

Amazon Go is a new kind of store with no checkout required. We created the world’s most advanced shopping technology, so you never have to wait in line. With our “just walk out shopping” experience, simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take the products you want, and go! No lines, no checkout.

Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. Our “just walk out technology” automatically detects(探測) when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in your virtual cart(購物車). When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Shortly after, we’ll charge your Amazon account and send you a receipt.

We offer delicious ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options made fresh every day by our on-site chefs and favorite local kitchens and bakeries. Our choice of foodstuff is from bread and milk to cheeses and locally made chocolates. You’ll find well-known brands we love, plus special finds we’re excited to introduce to customers. For a quick home-cooked dinner, pick up one of our chef-designed Amazon Meal Kits, and you can make a meal for two in about 30 minutes.

Our 1,800-square-foot shopping space is conveniently compact (緊湊的), so busy customers can get in and out fast. It is located at 2131, 7th Ave, Seattle, WA, on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street. All you need is an Amazon account(賬戶), a supported smartphone, and the free Amazon Go app.

Amazon Go is now only open to Amazon workers in our testing program, and will be open to the public soon.
