【題目】 Jeremy looked across the hot grassy land in an old truck. South Africa was a long way from his hometown in America. Jeremy hardly ever spent time with his father,a famous wildlife photographer(攝影師). Jeremy thought his father's job seemed hard and boring.
As the truck moved along the rough road, the door fell off!And their guide Makalu threw the door into the back of the truck.
They stopped near a watering hole. Makalu said he was the friend with the elephants here. Before long,Jeremy saw a small group of elephants walk toward the water. Dad jumped out of the truck and focused his camera on the largest elephant.
Jeremy noticed a baby elephant walking between two adults. The larger elephants walked into the water happily. They drew water into their trunks(象鼻) and shot it into the air. Then the baby elephant dropped into the water and the water was too deep for it.
The baby elephant was in trouble. It tried to climb out of the water, but the bank was too steep(陡峭的). Other elephants tried pulling the baby up, but they failed again and again. The mother elephant shouted.
Jeremy took the broken door from the back of the truck. Makalu saw what Jeremy was planning and ran to help. Together they pulled the door down to the water. Makalu comforted the mother elephant.
The mother knew Makalu and trusted him. Jeremy moved the door onto the bank. Its mother pushed from behind. The baby stepped onto the door and began to walk. Three more steps and it was safe. The other elephants gathered around the baby, touching it with their trunks.

I worry about my boys. They waste a lot of time in front of the computer playing games. I'd rather they read or ran around outside. How can I limit(限制)the time my children spend playing games? Mrs Smith |
It might be best if you let the kids play games before doing their homework.Research shows that it's not a good idea to play them before going to bed, since they keep the kids from sleeping well, and that playing them after a learning activity can mitigate(減輕)the brain's ability. Alpreesh |
My kids are only allowed to play computer games at the end of the school week and only after they have done their homework. It's very clear to them, and they have accepted the rule happily. We have no more arguments during the week. It's really been good for us. Cage |
I personally find it difficult to set time limits but when they’re on the computer,I get some quiet time. I built and now use a simple timer program that lets me set time limits(like 1 hour each day). The program gives the kids an audible reminder like "5 minutes left", and they have to stop when their time is up. It has ended all the fighting over computer time in our house. You can download it from http://www.TimesUpKids.com..com. John |

【題目】 There are many colours in nature. But do you know that a colour has weight? I think you'll say“no”. But I am afraid you are wrong. If you don't believe, you may do a small experiment(實(shí)驗(yàn)).
First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Wrap(包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other with a white piece of paper. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a lttle heavier.
Why does it happen? A scientist found that different colours have different weight in a man's mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say, every colour has its .own weight in our mind. The heaviest colour is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow an.d white. The scientists told us that colours also have smell. Can you smell the colour? Of course not. Then why did the scientists say so? That is because every colour represents a kind of light wave(光波)— a certain wavelength(波長(zhǎng)). It reaches our brain(大腦) through organs(感覺(jué)器官)
According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colour they like, and refuse the colour they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colours you like. Or you'll be nervous or even get ill. If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture for two hours, you'll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you'll feel you have been there for only one hour. Another example, if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room, his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change when we see different colours.
【1】Which is the lightest colour in a man's mind?
A.RedB.BlueC.GreenD.White
【2】Which of the following is NOT true?
A.Different colors have different weights in a man's mind.
B.The colours “blue” is the second heaviest colour in a man's mind.
C.People can't smell the colours.
D.The colour you don't like will keep you healthy.
【3】According to the passage, how long will you feel if you stay in a red room for an hour?
A.Two hours.B.Fours hoursC.Six hoursD.Eight hours.
