1. too many太多,用來(lái)修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)。 墒褂there be 句型:There are too many rules in our school 。 We have too many rules in our school./We have too many school rules./如果用Our school作主語(yǔ),可翻譯成Our school has too many rules.

2between and 在兩者之間, “在旅館和圖書(shū)館之間”可譯成between the

hotel and the library. (hotel 和library位置可互換)本句可使用there be句型,也可使用The post office作主語(yǔ)。 T(mén)he post office is between the hotel and the library./There is a post office between the hotel and the library.

3Knowledge comes from questioning. come from來(lái)自,來(lái)源于questioning是動(dòng)詞question的動(dòng)名詞形式。

4A good friend is like a mirror. Be like像···。Like是介詞。

5What were you doing when the rainstorm came?

I have read plenty of articles about self-improvement these past few months, and most of them tell you that you need to wake up and keep positive(積極的). When you wake up, you need to think that something great is going to happen today, and that you are going to have a great day. This kind of positive attitude(態(tài)度) is supposed to change your whole day.

So this morning I woke up and decided to give it a whirl. The sun was shining brightly through my bedroom window, and it immediately gave me this warm feeling inside. I thought to myself, "Today is going to be a great day. One of the best days ever!" I got out of bed, took my morning shower and began to get dressed. I put on a pair of dress pants I have not warned in a while, followed by my dress shirt and that is when it began. I reached into my left pocket and pulled out what felt like some paper.

You know that feeling of finding a $20 hill in your pants and it feels like free money? Because you forgot all about it and thought you never did?

I pulled out a $100 bill and a $50 bill in the same pocket. It seemed like the best thing that had happened to me these days. Yes, $150 starts off my day! I'm sure if someone could have seen the smile on my face, they would have understood, I shouted in joy, with my poor dog looking at me like I was crazy!

Start your morning off thinking you are going to have the best day ever and you just might! I really want to know what will happen next.

Once again, I argued with my son, which I never really wanted to do. When I told my friend about my problems with Paul, he showed me a short article that he had read. It was titled “Disagreeing, with Good Results”.

The article said that understanding another person is never easy, but it is most difficult when we do not agree with the other person. If we want to have good relationships with other people, we must learn to disagree fairly, so that we can solve our problems.

The article went on to say the first rule for a good disagreement is: we must want to solve the problem. Sometimes when people argue, they do not really want to end the disagreement. Therefore, they usually shout at each other, and one person walks away just to end the disagreement. Nothing is changed. The problem is still there.

The second rule is: we should make the problem clear in the simplest way possible. What exactly are we arguing about?

The third rule is: we need to listen actively. In active listening, we listen to understand what the other person says rather than thinking only about what we want to say next. Before we react to the other person’s ideas, we should be sure that we understand them. While we are listening, we should look for similarities in our ideas, not difference. We should look for a way to compromise — to find a solution that both of us can be happy with.

1What’s the name of the writer’s son?

2How can we solve the problems with the other people according to the article?
