【題目】---I called you at about ten o’clock this morning. But you didn’t answer the phone.

---Oh, I’m sorry. _________.

A. I was having a meeting with clientsB. I had a meeting with clients

C. I have had a meeting with clientsD. I would have a meeting with clients

【答案】A

【解析】

本題考查:過去進行時。選項A. I was having a meeting with clients我那時正在和客戶開會。(強調過去的那個時候)。B. I had a meeting with clients我和客戶開了個會。(過去時發(fā)生的)C. I have had a meeting with clients我和客戶開了個會。(動作已完成) D. I would have a meeting with clients我要和客戶開會。(將來時)本題中問的是上午十點打電話的時刻,故用過去進行時。綜合分析前后句, 可知此處填 I was having a meeting with clients最合適,完整句意為:--I called you at about ten oclock this morning.我今天上午大約十點鐘給你打電話。But you didnt answer the phone.但是你沒有接電話。---Oh, Im sorry.,我很抱歉。I was having a meeting with clients.我在和客戶開會。正確答案為:A

【題目】 Do you often listen to music at loud volumes(音量)? You should know that this habit is bad for your hearing, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Over 1 billion young people have problems in listening because they listen at loud volumes for a long time, WHO said. Listening to music or watching a TV show at loud volumes can harm your hearing.

The United Nations has standards for safe listening. It is not safe to listen to sounds that are louder than 85 decibels (分貝) for eight hours or 100 dB for 15 minutes. The sound of a busy road is about 85 dB and the sound of a rock concert can be about 100 dB.

Loud noise is harmful to the inner ear. Most of us are born with about 16,000 hair cells (聽毛細胞) in our inner ears. These cells detect (探測) sounds. However, listening to loud noise for a long time can make these cells work too hard and make some of them die. This is why people have hearing loss.

Some people might think that their music isn’t all that loud. But this can depend on where you are. For example, if you are in a noisy place like the subway, you might turn up your music too loud without realizing it. Later, when you listen to it at the same volume in a quiet place, you might feel uncomfortable.

WHO said the “safe level” for most sound is below 80 decibels for up to 40 hours a week. A level of 80 decibels is roughly equal to the noise of a subway.

1According to the story, WHO suggests that it is NOT safe to _____.

A. listen to music every dayB. watch TV for over an hour

C. listen to loud sounds for longD. go to a rock concert

2The sound level of a busy road is about _____.

A. 80 dBB. 85 dB

C. 100 dBD. 115 dB

3Why can listening to loud music cause hearing problems?

A. Because it puts our brains under great pressure.

B. Because it can cause hair cells in the inner ear to die.

C. Because it prevents our ears from resting.

D. Because it allows people to get used to listening to loud sounds.

4What can we get from the last paragraph?

A. People love to listen to loud music.

B. It’s reasonable to listen to loud music in some places.

C. People are likely to listen to music on the subway.

D. People don’t always realize how loud their music is.

【題目】One of the problems with passwords is that users forget them. In order to remember them, people use simple things like their dog’s name, their birth date, or the name of the current month-anything that will give them a clue to remember what their password is.

For the curious hacker (黑客) who has gained access to your online account, this is the same as locking your door and leaving the key under the doormat (門墊).

To create a safe password that is easy to remember, follow these simple steps:

● You should never use personal information as part of your password. It is very easy for someone to guess things like your last name, pet’s name, child’s birth date and other similar details.

● There are tools available to help attackers guess your password. With today’s computing power, it doesn’t take long to try every word in the dictionary and find your password, so it is best if you do not use real words for your password.

● You can make a password much safer by mixing different types of characters. Use some uppercase letters (大寫字母) along with lowercase letters (小寫字母), numbers and even special characters such as “&” or “%”.

● Rather than trying to remember a password that is created using various character types and is not a word from the dictionary, you can use a “passphrase”. Think of a sentence or a line from a song or poem that you like and create a password using the first letter from each word.

For example, rather than just having a password like “yr $ 1 Hes”, you could take a sentence such as “I like to read the About. Com Internet network security website” and convert it to a password like “il2rtA! nsws” by using the number “2” for the word “to” and using an exclamation point (感嘆號) in place of the “I” for “Internet”. You can use a variety of character types and create a safe password that is hard to figure out, but much easier for you to remember.

● You should use a different username and password for each login you’re trying to protect. That way, if someone figures out one of your passwords, the others are still safe. Another approach, which is less safe, but provides a fair balance between security and convenience, is to use one username and password for sites and applications that don’t need the extra security, but use unique usernames and more safe passwords on sites that require more security, such as your bank’s website.

1How is a password made up of one’s dog’s name or birthdate?

A. It is safe and easy to remember.

B. It can get hacked easily by attackers.

C. It suits those who have a poor memory.

D. It is the most commonly used type of password.

2According to the article, what is a passphrase made up of?

A. Different character types.

B. A long dictionary word.

C. The title of a song or a poem.

D. The first letter from each word of a sentence.

3Which of these passwords might be the safest according to the article?

A. jessica208.B. yr $ 1 Hes.

C. HERO&37.D. il2rtA!nsws.

4What’s the article mainly about?

A. How to make your passwords safer.

B. How hackers get access to computers.

C. How to protect your private information online.

D. Typical problems with passwords.
