根據(jù)題干中“was really ___ to me”可推出此處用形容詞thankful表示“感激的”,be thankful to sb.

結合題干中“got a call ____ the manager”可知此處是說接到來自經(jīng)理的電話,用from表示“來自”。

根據(jù)題干中“he asked ___ to call me”可知是“他讓她給我打電話”,動詞asked后接人稱代詞賓格her。

end up doing sth.……

The “Tell Me About” column this month will focus on the most important thing you have learned during your school life. Share your stories on www. ascd. org/tellmeahout.

Importance of feeling valued

Long before differentiation (區(qū)分) was used in education, I was lucky enough to have two teachers who gave me meaningful tasks that were different from my classmates’. I was able to explore in my own way. I learned a lot for sure, but what I really learned was that I was valued as an individual (個人). Now I am a teacher and I differentiate so that my students can learn. They, too, are valued as individuals.

— Lorraine Jacques, Connecticut

Seeing a bright future

In the 8th grade, my art teacher, Mrs. Griffin, changed me by saying the following words, “I do not want you to invite me to your high school graduation. I want you to invite me to your college graduation.” Eight years later, I became the first person in my family to graduate from college. When I sent out invitations to my college graduation ceremony, Mrs. Griffin was the first person on my list.

— Angela Estrella, California

In school, I learned not to take no for an answer. In high school, a favorite teacher told me that I would never win a public-speaking contest. It made me so mad that I entered a national contest and won first in the state and third in the nation. I keep my public-speaking medals in my bookcase as a reminder that there is always a way. We should not let anyone else decide what we can achieve.

Lots of kids like to play computer and mobile games these days. Is this good or bad for us? How do we deal with this issue?

In my opinion, playing games responsibly (負責任地) can help us relax. As the old saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” For example, when I finish five days of studying, I feel tired. That’s when I like to play a game called King of Glory with my classmates.

We all have lots of fun playing and talking about it. When we win, we feel happy. And when we lose, we still want to play more. I think that’s why so many students in our school like to play this game. It can not only help us relax, but also strengthen our friendship.

In addition, playing games can exercise our brains and help us think more quickly. When we start to play a new game, we’re not very good at it. But we can get better through practice. This process exercises our brains and makes them more active. However, you should make sure that you have finished all of your homework before you play games.

Still, some students seem like they are addicted (上癮的) to games. They can’t control themselves and will play games for five hours a day. That is not good. It’s bad for not only their eyes, but also their health. They will feel tired in class the next day, which will affect (影響) their studies. That’s not very responsible.

Therefore, I can only say that we should try to be self-disciplined (自律的) and responsible when working out how much time we should spend playing video games.

Title: Are computer games good or bad

1

● Helping us 2

We may feel tired after five days hard work at school, we can have a great time playing and talking about games.

● Exercising our brains

We can practice more when starting to play a new game which we aren’t good at. This process can make our brains

more 3.

Disadvantages

● Doing harm to our health

A few students, who seem to be 4 about games, can’t control themselves and will spend five hours a day playing games.

● Affecting our 5

As a result, the students will feel sleepy in class the next day after playing games for a long time.

Conclusion

We should try to be self-disciplined and responsible when working out how long we should spend playing video games.

A girl riding a bike hit and scratched ()a parked expensive car by accident when she was busily looking at a road sign. That poor girl was Zhang Yu, an 18-year-old college student from Yunnan Province. Instead of runner away, she decided to wait for the owner of the car. She made that decision just because she wanted to say sorry for the accident.

Zhang Yu was scared when Song Ming, the owner of the car, saw her standing beside his car. Knowing that she had waited in the hot sun for an hour and that she was from a poor family, he was deeply moved. He told her that she didn’t need to pay any money for the scratched part of the car. Hearing the words, Zhang Yu bowed at once and thanked Song Ming sincerely.

The heartwarming moment didn’t end there. Li Qiang was boss of the factory where Song Ming worked. After hearing what had happened, he was also deeply moved.
