【題目】 School playgrounds are supposed to help kids stay active and healthy. But since 2015, toxic(有毒的)chemicals in running tracks have caused many students in several cities, including Shanghai, Beijing and Wuhan, to suffer from nosebleeds, headaches and coughs. It was found that the materials used to build the tracks in these school’s playgrounds contained high levels of toxic chemicals.

On November 1,2018, new standards for the materials used to build playgrounds in primary and middle schools across the country came into effect. The Ministry of EducationMOEcreated these standards to protect students’ health.

The standards prohibit(禁止)the use of 18 chemicals for making running tracks, 11 more than the previous standards. The prohibited chemicals are harmful to the skin, eyes and noses and can even cause terrible diseases, China Daily noted.

For the first time, the standards also call for tests of the man-made grass that is used on some playgrounds as some of the materials used to produce man-made grass are highly toxic. Running tracks or patches(片)of man-made grass that does not meet these standards will be changed or removed.

The MOE has taken action in the last few years to keep playgrounds safe. Since 2016, it has invited experts and professionals(專(zhuān)業(yè)人員)to test new playgrounds at schools nationwide. The toxic tracks were produced by companies that used waste in order to cut down costs, according to CCTV. The companies and officials who were involved in producing the tracks have been punished.

【題目】 Have you ever started to read a book in English, then stopped because it was too hard? Don’t worry! You’re on the right track. Books are an amazing tool for learning languages but some are easier to use than others Here are my top tips for using books to learn English.

Read dual-language books

Dual-language books (or ‘parallel texts’) are the same story written in two languages. They have your native language on one page and your target language on the other, so you can quickly check what a word means.

Read new children’s books

Learning a language is the perfect excuse to dive back into the magical land of fairy tales and unicorns or the exciting world of spies and secret agents. Children’s books use simpler language and are fun to read. Look for books with pictures, as they help you to follow the story.

Read your favourite childhood book in English

Do you have a beloved childhood book in your own language? Find a copy of it in English! You know lots about the fictional world, the characters and the story already, so it is much easier to understand what is happening.

Read comic books

Sometimes when we are reading in a foreign language, longer stories can seem impossible to finish because it feels like there are too many new words. Comic books have fewer words per page, and lots of pictures so that you don’t get lost.

Make notes!

If you are using a book to learn English buy a cheap copy you can write in. Don’t be afraid to write translations and thoughts in the margins (頁(yè)邊空白), as your notes can help you to remember. Starting to read in foreign language does not need to be scary. With the advice above, you will be reading in English in no time at all! Remember that you can use these tips for films and television too. Try watching children’s television shows in English or turning on English subtitles (字幕) when watching film online.

【題目】

There are many ways to help improve your health like eating healthy food, taking exercise and getting medical help. But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The general sleeping rule is that the younger you are, the longer sleep you need.

The problem with sleep is that more and more people in the world are not sleeping enough. According to the World Health Organization over half the people in the world may be sleep-deprived. Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. In the United States alone, sleepy drivers cause at least 100,000 traffic accidents a year. Also sleep problems can cause medical problems such as high blood pressure.

How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may listen to the advice of Dr. James Maas an expert(專(zhuān)家)in sleep. He says, “Sleep is like a credit card(信用卡). When you sleep less. You are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back. The more hours you don’t sleep, the more hours you should sleep to ‘pay back’ the hours on your ‘sleep credit card.’”

For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said. “Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more.”

根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,選擇最佳答案。
